Description

About Us

Norfolk and Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust (NSFT) provides mental health and learning disability care for people across Norfolk and Suffolk. We are dedicated to providing high quality care with compassion, delivering many of the NHS services that are provided outside of hospital and in the community.

Our Trust Strategy “Improving Together – Safer, Kinder, Better” which is being delivered by our workforce of over 5,000 hardworking, committed, and dedicated staff, highlights our focus on improvement and our core priorities; improving health, improving care, improving culture and improving value. Whilst there is still much to do there are positive signs that outcomes and experiences for our service users, families and carers are improving. Ensuring that we have a high performing Board that includes  highly skilled Non-Executive Directors is critical to our continued improvement.

The Opportunity

This is an exceptional opportunity to join our Board as a Non-Executive Director. We are looking for three inclusive and compassionate leaders who share our ambition and determination to improve. You will be passionate about the wellbeing of our people and think differently to challenge the status quo, build collaboration, and enable us to find new opportunities and meet future challenges at an organisational and system level.

We are keen to hear from individuals with significant Board leadership experience who understand the complexity of leading a highly regulated people facing organisation. Your passion for improving mental health services will be evident as will your experience of leading organisations through change and transformation. We are particularly interested in attracting people with either; experience drawn from the Charity, Community and Voluntary Sectors, Digital expertise or clinical leadership. We want our Board to provide a broad spectrum of lived experience and are keen to attract candidates who can bring diverse perspectives. We welcome expressions of interest from the widest possible range of backgrounds, particularly those who are from the BME community, live with disability or have lived experience of mental health.

If you have experience as a senior leader and feel you have the skills and experience to join us as a Non-Executive Director but don’t possess the professional backgrounds listed above then we would still like to hear from you, particularly if you are from an under-represented group or community.

Regardless of professional background you will be skilled at translating your expertise effectively to our environment; and be able to demonstrate your capacity to absorb and understand health and social care policy. You will be experience in providing governance and assurance as part of a Board and enjoy building relationships with staff, service users and partners. You will demonstrate sound judgement and political acumen that will bring focus and a fresh perspective.

As a Non-Executive Director you will share responsibility with fellow Board members for setting the appropriate tone and culture of our organisation and will therefore have the highest standards of personal integrity with a clear understanding of, and alignment to, our values. If this sounds like you then we would love to hear from you.
