Description
Norfolk and Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust (NSFT) is seeking an outstanding clinical leader to join our senior leadership team as Deputy Chief Medical Officer. This is a pivotal role in a Trust that is committed to delivering high-quality, compassionate mental health and learning disability services to over 1.6 million people across Norfolk and Suffolk. As Deputy CMO, you will work closely with the Chief Medical Officer and senior leadership team to provide strategic and operational oversight of the medical directorate, ensuring clinical excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement across all services.
In this high-profile role, you will deputise for the Chief Medical Officer and lead on the professional development of medical staff, clinical governance, and quality improvement. You will be responsible for shaping clinical strategy, supporting transformation programmes, and ensuring that service user and carer perspectives are embedded in all aspects of care delivery. You will also represent the Trust at senior leadership level and in regional and national forums, helping to position NSFT as a centre of excellence in mental health care.
The role includes 8 programmed activities for leadership and management, with the remaining 3-4 dedicated to direct clinical care and professional development. You will be expected to lead by example, inspire teams, and foster a culture of collaboration, inclusion, and respect. This post is ideal for a substantive Consultant Psychiatrist with a strong track record in clinical leadership, strategic thinking, and partnership working.
NSFT is a values-led organisation, guided by our TALK principles—Team, Accountable, Learn and Improve, and Kind. We are on a journey of transformation, focused on co-production, quality improvement, and creating a culture of learning and innovation. If you are passionate about improving services, empowering clinicians, and making a lasting impact on the lives of service users and carers, we would love to hear from you.
You can meet the NSFT team and Faisil Sethi, CMO at Royal College of Psychiatrists Congress in Wales. Call now to book an informal meeting to find out more.
